President Muhammad Buhari has approved the formulation of a new board for the Federal Inland Revenue service. According to the statement released by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu, he said the president approved the appointment of the renewed tax consultant Muhammad M Nami as the new chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
The new board is said to comprise of members representing the six geographical zones and statutory representatives from selected ministries and agencies.
Mr. Nami whose appointment by the president is subjected to the senate approval will succeed the outgoing chairman, Babatunde Fowler, whose term of office expired today Monday 9th December 2019. The outgoing chairman is expected to hand over to the most senior director on the board, who will continue to act until the confirmation of the new chairman by the senate.
Muhamed Nami is a well-trained Financial, Tax, Accounting and Professional Manager with various qualifications, experience, and licenses from various professional organizations. Muhammed is an alumni of Bayero University Kano (BUK) where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, he also obtained his Masters of Business Degree at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. Muhammed is also a member of The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Institute of Debt Recovery Practitioners of Nigeria, Nigeria, Institute of Management, And the Association of National Accountant Of Nigeria.
He started his career with PFK in 1993 and rose to the position of senior consultant in charge of tax management and advisory service, prior to his appointment, he is the managing consultant of Manam professional service, Kaduna, Abuja, and Niger state.
Mr. Muhammed is an expert in rendering advisory support services to investors in reverence to new business startups and management of existing ones. He provides services to clients in the banking, manufacturing, public sectors as well as non-profit organizations.
He has also served as board members of Statutory Board Audit Committees and was appointed member presidential committees on Audit of Recovered Stolen Assets in November 2017 by the president.
Mr. Muhammed is happily married with children.
