Covid-19 : Benue State Governor Extend Lockdown

The state government of Benue has extended some restricted areas in the state and the curfew from dusk to dawn until further notice.

Samuel Ortom, a government official who disclosed the matter, said that in the future, roadside transactions will be prohibited in violation of social segregation rules due to market closures.

He also added that all entry points into the state will remain closed until further notice, and emphasized that together with the social evacuation directive, restrictions on various public gatherings remain in effect.

The Governor stated that once the virus broke out, the primary health care centers and hospitals in all 23 local government areas would serve as quarantine and limited treatment centers.

He urged Benue to take preventive measures such as washing his hands regularly with soap and water, using hand disinfectants and social distance.

Ortom appreciated the cooperation of the general public in informing the Action Committee about volunteering on suspicious cases and immediate action that brought positive results, indicating that the State Action Committee chaired by Eng.

The governor noted that because everything that is humanly possible to prevent the spread of the virus to Benue is taking place, fasting and prayers should also be intensified to seek God’s intervention.

“I am deeply convinced that, while doing everything in human power to prevent coronavirus, we must also remember the word of God in 2 Chronicles 7:14; “If my people, named after me, humble and pray, seek my face and turn away from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin and heal their land,” the governor said.
