In Nigeria, some suspected Boko Haram militants have attacked Dapchi, reports say, opening fire that forced locals to flee into the bush.

The number of casualties in the attack is unknown in the town of Dapchi that has been hit by Boko Haram attacks.

A resident said that the men came in the evening on Monday, May 18, 2020, when they opened fire on residents within the neighborhood.

The man said, “I was in the house and I heard the sound of gun shots. I ran outside and there I met several people who had also fled.”

” I heard that the attackers burned down the palace, and even though I could’nt see it, I saw that the palace had been set on fire,” he said.

The man said that before the attackers burned down the palace, they had to pick up supplies and food, and then they set the gas station on fire.

“Even the attackers went to the palace and found no one because all the family members fled when they heard the shooting,” he said.

The man said no lives were lost because, almost all the villagers had fled into the bush when they had heard the first shot, only to flee their homes.

He said later they heard that soldiers had entered the town, after the attackers had to stay in the town for about an hour.

Meanwhile, states in northeastern Nigeria continue to face numerous terrorist attacks.

The problem of security in Nigeria is a problem that you cannot overlook and what some see as the failure of the government to end this problem that has plagued the nation.
