The number of people confirmed to have contracted Covid19 in Kano state in has reached 847, according to the Kano State Health Department.
This was followed by an additional five victims of the epidemic on Wednesday.
The death toll stands at 36, which means that no more than one person has been killed from Tuesday through Wednesday.
The latest round of reports by the National Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) released on Wednesday night revealed that Kano has second highest infection rate after Lagos which has a total of 2,954 infected people so far.
Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has agreed to offer prayers on Friday and Sallah day despite the risk of covid19 infections.
The state government said it would hire about 1500 volunteers at Friday’s mosque in the state to ensure people follow the recommendations of health authorities to avoid the spread of civid19.
In neighboring Jigawa State, six people were infected with the virus, with eight people infected in Borno.
In Plateau state, seven more people were infected while one person was infected in Taraba.
By Wednesday, a total of 6677 people had been infected by the virus in Nigeria, 1840 had been discharged and 200 people had died.
