Muslims around the world celebrate the Eid Fitri celebrations this weekend, President Buhari said he would say Eid prayers with his family at home rather than at any of the places of prayer where he had joined other Muslims for Eid congregational prayers for years.

A statement issued by the President’s Special Assistant for Media, Garba Shehu, stated that the president’s decision was in line with the blocking measures in the Federal Capital Territory, which were introduced “to save lives and protect people from all dangers. ”

He added that the president also abides by the regulations of Sultan Sokoto and Jama’at Nasril Islam (JNI) General President, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, suspending Eid congregational prayers throughout the country, as well as a protocol against the mass assembly issued by the Presidential Task Force on COVID -19.
