In a statement posted on his Twitter account on Tuesday, Malam Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesman, denied that President Buhari canceled the appointment and contracts signed by late Abba Kyari.
“The presidency has been focused on a number of reports that alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari was cancelling some of the appointments and contracts that the former chief of staff has signed.
We are not surprised, because the reports did not mention credible sources. There is no truth in these reports and Nigerians should ignore them, ”Garba Shehu said.
He added that it was Nigerians who “re-elected President Buhari in February 2019. He did not abdicate the sovereignty of the Nigerian people and that he would never give it to anyone.”
In the past, many government officials, including the country’s security adviser, Babagana Monguno, have accused the former chief of staff, Abba Kyari, of interfering in unresolved issues of which they are not true.
Retired Major General Monguno says Abba Kyari interference in his work has limited the progress made as regards to security in the country.
Abba Kyari passed away last month after suffering a coronavirus infection.
