The Nigerian army’s security chief in Abuja, the country’s capital city, says that a mysterious Boko Haram member, Malam Adamu Yahaya, known as Saad Yarmi, has surrendered to his troops.

The military said the young man had surrendered voluntarily to the 242th Battalion in Monguno in Borno State on May 24th.

He added that he had led a raid on its forces in Baga and that it had raided towns in Metele, Mairari, Bindiram, Kangarwa and Shetimari.

“This is followed by attacks not ending up in camps,” the army said.
