Former NNPC President Maikanti Baru dies

Former President of the National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Maikanti Kacalla Baru has died.

A source from his family confirmed to the  the death of the former NNPC president.

NNPC president Mele Kyari confirmed the death of his heir in a condolence message he posted on his Twitter account.

Kyari said: “My cousin and friend and mentor, Dr Maikanti Kachalla Baru, the former NNPC president died last night. He is a role model. God has forgiven his mistakes and has mercy on him.”

Born in Misau, Bauchi State, in northern Nigeria in 1959, he attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 1982, where he studied engineering.

He started working for the NNPC in 1991.

The Chief of Defense Staff, Kacalla Baru, has held the position of chairman of the NNPC from 2016 to 2019 after serving in various oil fields in Nigeria.

He also became the president of the NNPC

He left behind two wives and children
