George Floyd’s murder: Riots break out in US cities

A curfew has been issued in US cities in a bid to end clashes between protesters and police in connection with murder of George Floyd’s.

The clashes between the police and the protesters prompted police to use tear gas and rubber bullets after being attacked in several cities.

President Trump has accused activists and protesters of disturbing public order. this has been one of the worst cases black males being murdered by the police in the U.S since President Trump’s ascension to power.

Mr. Floyd, a 46-year-old American citizen, was killed while he was in police custody in Minneapolis on Monday.

Police, Derek Chauvin, 44, has also been charged with murder and is expected to appear in court on Monday.

In video footage circulating online, which shows Mr. Chauvin kneeling on Mr. Floyd’s neck for a few minutes, despite Mr. Floyd repeatedly saying he couldn’t breathe.

What’s new about the protest?

Demonstrations have spread to at least 30 cities across the United States.

In Chicago, protesters threw stones at security forces, who responded by firing tear gas. Several people were arrested on Saturday’s protest.

Los Angeles police fired rubber bullets as they tried to disperse a crowd of protesters throwing bottles at police cars. Later video footage showed protesters standing on police cars that was damaged.
