The Ogun State Police command, on Tuesday, Adewale Adeoye, aka 16, a notorious cultist was paraded along side 30 others for different crimes.
Kenneth Ebrimson, the Ogun state Commissioner for police, paraded the suspects at the police headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta for a series of crimes such as cultism, armed robbery, murder and the illegal possession of arms.
He mention that the criminals were arrested in different parts of the state over the last one month.
When the suspects were paraded, the Commissioner of police explained that Mr. Adeoye was on the police most wanted list in relation with the killings in Ijebu-Ode and its environs.
The Commissioner also stated that Mr. Adeoye who is a cult member of the Eiye confraternity group, was arrested along with 5 others in their hideout at Ijebu-Ode.
The Commissioner of Police mentioned that, one double barrelled pistol, 11 live cartridges, assorted charms, two locally made single barrelled pistols and Indian hemp were obtained from them.
The suspect, Mr. Adeoye, said that his victims were the killers of the leader of the Eiye confraternity in Ijebu Ode.
He identified his victims as Abas, Koledowo and Vandan.
He confessed that he has been arrested for similar crimes between 2012 and 2017.
Mr. Adeoye he was first arrested and jailed in 2012 and was later freed in 2015 because there was no evidence to show in court that he was guilty of the crime.
He said that a few days later, the police came to arrest him again and kept him in custody for another 2 years before he regained his freedom in 2017.
He disclosed that he was formerly the fourth in command in the confraternity in 2017 before he was later made the second in command.
He was asked if he has renounced his membership as a cult member after his arrest, but he said that he has not renounced his membership of the cult.
He disclosed that he wasn’t given the chance to renounce his membership and they threatened to kill him if he renounce his membership.
The other three robbers that were paraded was caught at Agbara after robbing some victims in Ogun state.
The Commissioner of police also paraded some criminals who were caught around the Central Bank of Nigeria in the capital Abeokuta.
Other criminals arrested were 4 ritualist and 8 cultists including one suspected murderer, among other suspects.
