Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, who is the Commissioner for Education is weighing the pros and cons of reopening schools in Lagos.
At an annual ministerial press briefing of the state ministry of Education on Tuesday, Mrs Adefisayo said although the Federal would decide when schools will resume.
She added that the state is putting measures in place to protect students.
She recalled that the Presidential task force on Covid19 on Monday disclosed that school will remain closed.
She explained that she can’t give a timeline on the resumption of schools, but disclosed that the ministry is working with development partners and other ministry of education across the country to come up with a set of guidelines to be able to handle the reopening of schools.
She also mentioned they are working behind the scenes, she said they have a paper on the guidelines and they will start to share if the paper is finally approved in a few days time.
She insisted that there must be guidelines that will cope with large school gatherings.
She also mentioned that there are many things being put under consideration and they are thinking of pupils and students not coming to school everyday so that the children can be spread across the school.
She said that pupils don’t have to be in the class to learn as they can learn in a room with chairs and table.
She concluded that 3000 primary and secondary school teachers across the state were recently employed into the teaching work force to increase the capacity of the existing work force and provide the best education for Lagos children.
