Bank and Police station raided by robbers, policemen and passers-by killed

A yet to be known number of policemen and passersby are said to be killed when suspected armed robbers robbed first bank of Nigeria, Isanlu branch, Kogi state.

A witness said that the robbers who were seven in number, came with two cars, invaded the bank and killed several people.

The PRO officer in Kogi state, William Ayah affirmed that there were casualties but no official figures yet.

He stated that, the State Commissioner of Police, Ede Ayuba, has directed his deputy, Akeem Yusuf, to liaise with the Divisional Police Officer in Insanlu to get more details on the incident and report back to the station within 24 hours.

It was understood that security personnel on duty at the bank and some passers by were all killed by the robbers, who went mad as a result of being unable to have access into the banking hall.

It was reported that the gunmen also ransacked the Police Divisional Headquarters in Insanlu and killed some policemen on duty.

The P.R.O has said that he will give details on the incident as soon as possible.
