It was reported that 11 people have been killed and many injured following a recent attack on Tungua and Utsua-Daa communities in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Alhaji Saleh Umar who is a resident of Bagoni near Tungwa, said that gun men invaded Tungwa on Thursday and Utsua-Daa on Friday killing 11 people in the process. Umar said several houses in the two localities along Mararaba road were burnt down during the attack.
He said that they saw eleven dead bodies after the attack. Also he mentioned that houses were burnt down and people fled their communities.
He said a lot of people fled the village especially Tiv farmers also. They all ran on foot to the nearest village Bali to seek refuge.
Hon. Musa Mahmud, Caretaker Chairman of Bali Local Government Area, said the gunmen attacked the villagers but stated that only five were confirmed to be killed.
Mahmud who said that he was present at the scene of the incident, mentioned that several houses were burnt, and the situation was under control.
He sent a message in which he said that the people should shun violence and embrace peace.
It was reported that attacks and killings took place eight hours after the Taraba joint peace committee submitted a report on the crisis to Engr. Haruna Manu who is the Deputy governor of Taraba State.
