UNIJOS student regains her freedom from kidnappers

A female student from the University of Jos, who was kidnapped by her abductors has been freed.

Helen who is a 300-level Zoology student at the University of Jos, was kidnapped by gunmen on Wednesday night, attacked the staff quarters of the Federal College of Land Resources Technology located at Kuru community, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A source confirmed her release from the abductors in Jos on Friday.

They said that, she was taken around the Heipang community, in nearby Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state on Thursday night by her family after she was left in the bush.

Ubah Ogaba who is the who is the spokesman for the Plateau State Command confirmed that the Helen was freed by her abductors.

When questioned about the release, Ogaba, who stated that the kidnappers initially demanded N100 million then brought the amount down to N6 million naira.

He said that he called the Divisional Police Officer in the area where Helen was kidnapped and the officer in charge told him that she has been released.
