The Federal Government on Thursday said it was worried about the sudden increase in Covid19 cases in the country, which increased from 4,641 in May to 14,554 on Thursday night.
The PTF and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha at the press briefing on in Abuja, noted that 663 cases registered on Tuesday, was the highest in a single day which was disturbing.
The PTF Chairman also revealed that he would on Thursday night starts a string of virtual conferences with some governors appointed by the National Economic Council.
He said he will also meet with security agencies to make sure that compliance with the stipulated guidelines is strictly followed to prevent further spread of the virus.
Also, the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, revealed that 39% of Covid19 cases in Nigeria were symptomatic, while 61% were asymptomatic.
According to what the minister said, 5,410 39% of the 13,873 recorded as of Wednesday night were symptomatic, while 8,462 which is 61% were asymptomatic.
Symptomatic patients refer to those people who manifest Covid19 symptoms such as severe cough, fever, and sneezing while those who are asymptomatic do not show any symptoms.
On Wednesday, Nigeria had registered 13,873 Covid19 infections, with 382 deaths with 4,351 patients discharged.
