Musician Azeez Fashola or Naira Marley slammed Sam Iwuajoku, chairman and chief executive officer of Executive Jet Services Ltd, calling his team “a group of useless people.”

It was reported earlier that the airline was suspended by the federal government for bringing the musician and his team to Abuja for a concert.

Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika announced the suspension at the press briefing of the Presidential Task Force in Abuja on Monday.

Subsequently, the airline chairman wrote an apology letter to the minister, explaining the circumstances surrounding the flight.

In a letter dated June 15, 2020, Iwuajoku stated that he approved the flight thinking that it was the Minister of Works and Housing in the person of Babatunde Fashola.

Part of the letter was: “Please fly the judge to Abuja by plane on Sunday, June 14, 2020 as required, and grant the permit upon application, but unfortunately, when I called the judge on Saturday to tell him: We obtained a permit, and then he said that he had arrived in Abuja by another plane.

“So, on Saturday, June 13, 2020, my staff called me and said they had a charter flight to Abuja and the passengers were already in the lounge. Usually, the passenger manifest is always sent to me before departure.

“When I read the list and saw FASHOLA BABATUNDE, I thought it was the respected minister of Works and his men getting ready to go to Abuja. Therefore, since he is the current minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we decided to fly. I don’t know that it was a group of useless people.”

However, Naira Marley responded via Twitter handle on Tuesday afternoon, Naira Marley said “Did you know that more than 20,000 Malians travel on business jets every month? We will not use your useless airlines anymore. To call us useless.

“Thank God, we didn’t crash in that flight because we almost fell.”
The artist added that his crew did not book flights directly.

Earlier, Iwuajoku said in a telephone interview that the flight was booked by the broker.

However, the copy of the manifest list was seen and confirmed that the name Babatunde Fashola was the passenger on the flight.

Naira Marley further explained that passenger Babatunde Fashola was indeed in flight, disclosing that is his younger brother’s name.

“They asked for our name on the plane. My name is Azeez Adeshina Fashola and my younger brother is Moshood Babatunde Fashola,” he said.
