The U.S President, Donald Trump disclosed on Wednesday that police officers in the United States have not been treated fairly. The President looks to be defending the police officer that killed Rayshard Brooks a black American.
The Atlanta Police officer, Garrett Rolfe was charged with killing Rayshard Brooks by shooting him in the back and he also kicked him when he was bleeding on the ground.
His death came just less than three weeks of George Floyd’s murder by a policeman in Minneapolis which sparked nationwide protest across the U.S.
In an interview on Fox with Sean Hannity, Trump said what happened was a terrible situation but nobody is allowed to resist a police officer.
He said that he hopes that the officer will be treated fairly as police officers in the United States have not been treated fairly.
Meanwhile, he said it is wrong for any civilian to resist the police and unfortunately they ended up in an argument and it turned out badly. He said it is a very bad encounter.
Trump also discussed Floyd’s death, he said he has been unable to watch the nine minutes video clip of his death.
On Tuesday, Trump issued an executive order on improving policing in the U.S, calling for choke holds to be banned, but he has been unable to address the problem of racism and police brutality in the U.S.
Critics and Nancy Pelosi, Democrat speaker of the House of Representatives, have criticized his efforts.
She stated that Trump executive order is weak and falls short of what is needed to combat the problem of police brutality and racism.
Trump criticized the Democrats view, saying that they are not making any positive contributions, they want to hold back funds and they want to abolish the police departments.
