Gbfoods, a good processing company, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Kebbi State Government and the Emirate of Yauri, has successfully completed a tomato processing factory of N20 billion, in Kebbi State.
GBfood said in a statement said that the completed tomato processing factory is the second largest in Nigeria and the only fully backward integrated plant in ECOWAS, and has the largest single tomatoes farm in Nigeria.
It said when all phases of the project is completed, the factory would be the largest fresh tomatoes processing factory in the whole of sub-Saharan Africa.
It stated that the investment in the world class factory as well as adjoining farms includes a greenhouse, seed planting robots, an incubation chamber, a drip irrigation, a fertugation infrastructure and other agricultural machinery.
It says the farm will carryout dual purpose and it will produce industrial tomatoes i n the dry season as well as soya beans in the rainy season.
It said the tomato factory will turn fresh tomatoes into tomato concentrates used for producing tomato paste while soya beans will be used to process soya beans oil which is an important ingredient for GBfoods ‘ Bama and Jago Mayonnaise.
It said that the factory is going to create 1000 job opportunities including 500 farming jobs, 150 factory jobs and 150 construction jobs.
