Reports from the coastal city of Rivers State have arrested seven Cameroonian nationals on the Obong coast in Akpabuyo Local Government as they try to get into the country by boat.
People were denied entry to the country and were able to drive to their country through the Ikang mainland, and their boats were seized.
The seizure of the seven is part of a series of recent arrests by NIS offices in the states of Rivers and Akwa Ibom under the Nigerian-Cameroon border under a directive by the federal government to close national borders.
A statement issued by DCI’s Public Information Officer Sunday James stated that the National Immigration Service Director, CGI Muhammad Babandede MFR, had directed the state border agencies to redo their patrols. and to gather information on various waterways and landfills to prevent migrants from migrating into the country
