In an effort to save their lives and their welfare, eight communities in Katsina State, led by insurgents, entered into an agreement with insurgents to pay some of their monthly tax revenue.
This is confirmed by an interview by daily affairs consultant, Dr Muttaka Darma, who stated that villagers pay more than N150,000 every month. Some of the people who fail to pay this tax are dropping out of the villages to survive and so they are leaving their farms. The incidents are most frequent in Faskari Local Government Area, particularly in Tsamiya, Birnin Kogo, Bangi, Kahi da Raba
Dr Darma stated that; The situation has led to some villagers dying to save their lives, due to the failure to pay, or the amount of money, where a group of attackers collect more than 150,000 naira.
