On Friday, a motorcyclist died in alone accident just opposite Ihiala Local Government Area Secretariat, along Ihiala-Owerri expressway in Anambra state.
The accident happened at about 1:10 pm which involved a Carter Motorcycle with registration plate number 827NNE.
It was understood that the family if the deceased whose identity is yet to be known, was said to have lost control of the motorcycle, as a result of lack of concentration and then crashed into a ditch and died on the spot.
Pascal Anigbo, the State Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) affirmed the incident.
He stated that around 1:10 pm on Friday 26 if June 2020, a fatal road traffic accident involving a black coloured Cater Motorcycle with plate number 827NNE was spotted opposite the Local Government Area Secretariat, along the Ihiala-Owerri expressway.
He described the deceased as a middle-aged man, whose identity is yet to be known, lost control of his motorcycle as a result of lack of concentration, which culminated in the unfortunate crashed which made him dead
The corpse of the deceased, who happened to be the only victim of the crash has been kept at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Mortuary, in Ihiala by the Road Safety rescue team from the Ihiala unit command, the team also gave the motorcycle to the police, to carry out further investigation.
CC Andrew A. Kumoayi, the Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, warned that motorcyclists should stop riding on the expressways, which contravenes the road traffic rules and regulations.
He also stated the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a motorcycle to prevent damage to the head during a crash. He sends his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.
