The Nigerian military captured two foreign armed bandits

On Tuesday, the Defence Headquarters said that an air strike carriedout by the Air Component of Operation Gama Wiki at Kasuwan Ango Community in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State have seen a disruption of the activities of some armed bandits along with two foreign nationals in the area.

The air raid was conducted in the night and in the early hours of the morning on the 28th and 29th of June 2020, the operation was carried out based reliable intelligence reports showing that some armed bandits in black clothes were spotted moving with a large number of rustled cattle in the area.

Major General John Eneche, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations revealed this to newsmen in a statement in Abuja.

He said that the Air Component delivered a gunship helicopter to strike the bandits in multiple waves of attack which to the destabilisation and neutralisation of some of the bandits, while there were others that escaped the raids with gun shot wounds.

He said two of the bandits that escaped, happened to foreigners, but though they were later caught and arrested in Niger state as their cattle rustling operation have been disrupted.

He praised the efforts of Operation Gama Wiki Air Component for their dedication and professionalism, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, was grateful to all Nigerians for their support and urged the general public to continue to provide the force with useful information that will help to bring back peace and security to all parts of the country currently affected by insecurity.
