University of Benue Vice Chancellor dies of coronavirus

Professor Godwin Achinge, who is the Vice Chairman of the Benue State Action Committee on Covid19, and Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration of the University of Benue, Makurdi, was reported to have died of coronavirus complications.

But the family have not confirmed the cause of his death, it was understood that he died on Sunday afternoon in Jos the capital of Plateau State where he went to get medical attention.

An anonymous member of the action committee confirmed the death of Professor Achinge to newsmen.

He said that the lost one of their member, in the person of Vice Chairman, Prof. Achinge who died from the virus in afternoon in Jos, but they waiting to inform the family of his death.

Mrs. Ngunan Addingi, who is the Commissioner for Information, was contacted on the issue and she disclosed that they are yet to affirm the death to the Chairman of the committee as well as the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Benson Abouno.

It was said that Governor Samuel Orton had Saturday in his regular update and briefing on the virus revealed that the deceased had been tested positive for the virus along with 36 people.
