Barkin Ladi Local Government Chairman dies of Coronavirus



Dr. Nimkong Lar, Commissioner for health, Plateau State, on Thursday announced that Late Mr. Ezekiel Mandyau, Chairman of Barking Ladi Local Government Area, has died of coronavirus.

The Commissioner who made this known to newsmen on Thursday, said the test results of the late LG Chairman of Barking Ladi, confirmed he was tested positive for the virus.

The explained that test was carried out after he died and when the test results came back, they discovered that he was positive, he said the family have been informed of the test results.

It was reported that the LG Chairman who is 52 years of age, died of the virus at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital.

Mr. Pam Chollom Dung, who is the leader of the Barkin Ladi Legislative Council affirmed the cause of his death.

Mr. Dung said the late Chairman was with him in the morning and was also with some at noon and the late Chairman looked okay at the time.

He said only for them to hear later on that he has been taken to the hospital and he passed away at the hospital.

It was understood that the late Chairman had been buried today at Barkin Ladi which was in accordance with Covid19 guidelines.
