Nigerian Military Dislodged 92 Insurgents and 104 Bandits in one week

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Nigerian military has on Thursday 9th July, 2020 through the coordinator, Defence Media Operations Major General John Enenche confirmed that it has eliminated 92 Boko Haram and the Islamic States West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and 104 bandits in its counter – insurgency and anti – banditry operations in the North – Eastern and North – Western parts of the country.

Enenche, said the military under the umbrella of Operation Lafiya Dole has in the last one week recorded massive success against its fight on terrorism and banditry through a joint effort of the land and air army operations in the North – East.

He also revealed that the troops have taken control of criminals, spies and the seizure of ammunition as well as a total destruction of some of the structures which serves as meeting venue at Mai Yakare village in Borno, which resulted in the death of many of the insurgent’s members.

According to Major Enenche, the military rescued 35 captives from the terrorist as four others surrendered to the military. This was achieved as a result of the colossal air strikes by the Air Task Force while launching its supplementary Operation LONG REACH II on the territory  occupied by the insurgents in the Sambisa Forest leading to the destruction of the terrorist group’s  logistics equipments during one of the air strikes carried out in Gulumba Gana – Kumshe in Mina, northern part of the state (Borno).

In his words “A total recorded number of 92 enemies of our country were deleted in the North –East zone within the period under review”. Similarly, in the North Western part of the country, Major Enenche said no fewer than 58 armed bandits were killed in Katsina and Zamfara States respectively while others had to escape with gun short wounds under the auspices of  Operation Hadarin Daji, stating that 367 cows rustled were recovered while three of the bandits surrendered and embrace peace.

Enenche who puts the total figures of bandits flushed out during the operations at 104 from the North – Western region, also confirms that as a result of intense patrols by the military and other security agencies in the North – Central, the region is beginning to have its desired peace as farmers can be seen returning for farming activities on their long abandoned farmlands without the fear of bandits and cattle rustlers.

He also added that 565,000 litres of illegal refined AGO was ceased in Delta and Rivers states all in the South – South axis by the Maritime Components of Operation Delta. He said “A total of 17  illegal refining sites were deactivated at Agor – Illa Warri South – West Local Government Area while 30,000 litres of illegally refined AGO and 125.7 barrels of stolen crude oil were impounded during the operation”.

Meanwhile, a vessel was arrested by the Nigerian Navy Ship BOMADI for operating without its automatic identification  system, the vessel was said to have contain 125,000 litres of AGO, and have to be  transferred to NNS DELTA for full investigation.

Lastly Major Enenche commended the troops and security agencies that participated in the operations across the country and urged members of the public to always report any criminal activities in their respective communities to the nearest military or security agencies nearest to them on time.
