Iranian TV correspondent has been released

Tropics Nigeria has learned that Danjuma Abdullahi, a correspondent for Iran-owned PressTV, has been released by the Nigerian government.

Danjuma Abdullahi was reportedly arrested while covering a protest by Shiites led by Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky at the in Abuja.

The military has not charged Danjuma with any crime. The journalist was arrested along with his camera operator.

Police initially detained Mr Danjuma Abdullahi in their office at the Federal Secretariat although they were later taken to the CID office.
