Anyone who is a resident in any LGA should be allowed to register for the 774,000 jobs – Festus Keyamo



It was reported earlier that the State Selection Committee have been selecting candidates who are natives of a particular local government and this has been frowned at by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo.

He wrote in his twitter handle, “We understand some States’ Selection Committees are considering only indigenes for the 774,000 jobs. That’s unacceptable. Anyone who is resident in any LGA in the country, irrespective of tribe, is qualified. It’s one country in which we all live. The NDE coordinators should note.”

This has generated controversy among Nigerians who think they are entitled to register in their place of residence since they have lived almost all their lives and invested or contributed to the development of a particular state or local government.

While some are of the opinion that it is okay to maintain the status quo by registering only indigenes of that local government.
