Leaders of Yoruba groups in Nigeria have threatened to boycott the country’s 2023 general elections if their demands for constitutional restructuring are not met.

The Yoruba factions vowed in a post-conference statement that only constitutional reform would save the country from its current predicament, especially in terms of security and the economy.

Leaders who attended the joint meeting included Afenifere, Reuben Fashoranti, Yoruba World Congress professor Banji Akintoye and former Ondo State governor Dr Olusegun Mimiko.

The Yoruba coalition has also complained about the inequality in the distribution of power by the Nigerian government, led by Muhammadu Buhari.
