The United Nations says at least 60 people have been killed and many more injured in fresh clashes in Sudan’s Darfur region.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says at least 500 gunmen stormed the northern town of Masteri on Saturday afternoon, killing people, burning homes and looting property.

This was one of the worst attacks seen in villages in the area where many of them were burnt down, along with homes, markets, shops and amenities.

Residents said they would not bury the bodies until authorities take action.
