Why I left the PDP – Dogara

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives has said that the illegal awarding of contracts by his Bauchi State government is one of the main reasons why he has defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

He also expressed concern over the non-payment of salaries on time, and the failure to hold local government elections in the first six months, as promised by Governor Bala Muhammad.

“The government borrowed N4 billion and the money was later found in the account of a private company, even though they were borrowed in the name of Bauchi State, and contracts were awarded illegally, apart from double the amount of money that is being spent without following the rules of the law.”

Dogara also said that one of the problems he saw in the leadership of the PDP Bauchi government was the lack of respect for elders and traditional rulers by the governor, contrary to his earlier promises that he would respect them.

He said these and many other reasons made him feel that he could no longer live in the same shadow as Governor Bala Muhammad.
