A 17 year old teenager named, Graham Ivan Clark as well as two other males in Tampa, Florida was apprehended and charged on Friday for his alleged involvement in a notorious Twitter hack earlier this month of prominent figures like Bill Gates, Ellon Musk, Joe Biden and Barack Obama in which he used their Twitter account to promote a bitcoin scam.

Hillsborough State Attorney, Andrew Warren said in a statement that the teenager was apprehended on Friday morning in Tampa after the federal and state investigators carried out an investigation into the hack and bitcoin scam.

Warren stated that his office was incharge of the prosecution because Florida laws gives room for greater flexibility than federal law to charge a teenager like an adult in a situation like this.

He said, “The FBI and Department of Justice will continue to partner with the office throughout the prosecution.”

He also said, “These crimes were perpetrated using the names of famous people and celebrities, but they’re not the primary victims here. This bitcoin was designed to steal money from regular Americans from all over the country, including here in Florida. This massive fraud was orchestrated right here in our backyard, and we will not stand for that.”

In a statement released by Twitter on Friday, said it appreciated “the swift actions of law enforcement in this investigation and will continue to cooperate as the case progresses.”

Twitter also disclosed that a total of 130 Twitter accounts were targeted. Also the hacker had a direct access to 36 messages and downloaded data from seven.
