Ganduje Appoints Ex BUK VC, as Pro-chancellor for YUMSUK University



Gov,  Abdullah Umar Ganduje of Kano has approved the appointment of the outgoing Vice-chancellor of Bayero University Kano, (BUK)  as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, (YUMSUK).

This was contained in a statement issued by the commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who said the appointment was meritorious,  as a Professor of Mathematics,  had his Doctorate degree in Mathematics, in the year 1988 from the University of Arkansas, the commissioner reaffirmed that the appointment was with the immediate effect.

Professor Yahuza Bello during his studentship had won a federal scholarship for his best performance in undergraduate studies in BUK and emerged as the best graduating student in the university and also won the Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s Prize.

In addition to this, he was also among the graduates whose names were listed for obtaining “A” in all courses while pursuing his PhD programme in the year 1988 at the University of Arkansas.

He had also held several academic leadership positions in the University including Head, Department of Mathematical Sciences, 1991 to 1999; Dean, Faculty of Science, 1995-1999; and Director, Centre for Information Technology, 2003-2007; Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, 2009-2010; and two-term Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), seen as the longest-serving VC in the entire history of BUK.
