Olawale Bakare, the national coordinator of the #Revolutionnow movement in Osun State, was arrested on August 5 (Wednesday). He is commonly known as “Mandato”. His lawyer, Mr. Alfred Adegoke, shared his release with our reporter on Sunday. He also said that three other detainees who participated in the protest were also released. Bakare and six other protesters were arrested by agents of the Ministry of State Service in Osobo on Wednesday and were arrested during a demonstration organized by the movement.
However, last Thursday, three protesters were handed over to their parents, while Bakary and other protesters were arrested for failing to bring their parents or guardians to represent them. Adegoke gave the names released on Thursday: Samuel Olowolafe, Gift Erupke, and Martins Jesuloni. Adegoke said: “Everyone was released, including Olawale Bakare. The others were handed over to their parents or guardians.
“But I stood up for Bakare because his parents died a long time ago. I read the bond and the main condition given was that the Bakare does not cause any disturbance or act against the public peace.
“Apart from the three who were released last Thursday, others have also been placed in the custody of the DSS.”
