Born Adedamola Adefolahan, known professionally as Fireboy DML, developed an interest in music while studying at Obafemi Awolowo University.
His breakthrough single “Jealous” first appeared on YBNL Nation’s collaborative album YBNL Mafia Family (2018), before being re-released on 25 March 2019.
He won Listener’s Choice and was nominated for Song of the Year for “Jealous” at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival. The announcement came via his Twitter and Instagram page when he wrote, “Apollo. 20th of August.” The album will be a follow-up to Nigeria’s best selling album of 2020 (so far) and Fireboy’s debut, Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps.
The album was teased after Olamide announced the YBNL distribution deal with EMPIRE Distribution. He wrote, ” Time to get to work and serve you guys new Baddo album and new Fireboy album who’s ready? #YBNLEMPIRE.”
Olamide is also set to release his 11th body of work later in 2020. The title is yet unknown. Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps (abbreviated as LTG) was released by YBNL Nation on November 29, 2019. The album comprises 13 tracks and doesn’t feature any guest artist.
Ahead of the release of Apollo, the star has released two singles New York City Girl and Eli.
The singer is also currently making waves with his recent collaboration on Ogaranya with Nigerian rapper Reminisce. We just can’t wait for the new album.
