Strikes is expected to begin across Belarus after days of protests



Many people are expected to go on strike in Belarus after weeks of protests demanding the resignation of President Alexender Lukashenko.

An estimated 100,000 people stormed the Minsk capital on Sunday, calling for a re-run of last week’s presidential election and the resignation of the president.

Belarus’ ambassador to Slovakia, Igor Leshchenya, told the BBC that the election results were “completely untrue” and that protesters “showed that the support for the president was less than 50 per cent.”
