The Government of Lagos State has announced the beginning of the removal of all the illegal structures that obstruct the right of way (ROW) on the Lekki Regional Road. It is in order to enable free movement during project construction.

The announcement was made on Monday 17 August 2020 by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, during a stakeholder meeting in Alausa.

He noted that removal became important to enable the smooth implementation of the project Lekki Regional Road.

Salako had recalled that the Ministry took its time to go through the proper phase of stakeholder-engagement and delivery of legislative notices to owners of affected structures, as reported in the June 16 , 2020 newspaper.

He urged owners and occupants of those established structures to cooperate with the state government by moving away from the regional road’s authorized right of way. He also noted that the initiated phase of determining the road’s right of way is a powerful sign of the government’s commitment to carry out the project in earnest.

He reiterated that, in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda, the Lekki Regional Road is a major road being carried out by the Lagos State Government to promote transport and socio-economic growth.
