The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has today urged Kano State Government and other concerned authorities to improve strict measures to curtail the incessant increase in number of rape cases, domestic violence and drug abuse.
Chairperson of NAWOJ in Kano and Secretary Bilkisu Ado Zango and Wasila Ladan in a communique jointly signed after the association meeting on Saturday expressed grievances that a state like Kano day by day is having high spate of new cases of people whose Human rights are being abused or violated by their loved ones and the society.
The communique also urged Kano State Government to create awareness and sensitization on COVID-19 disease and the need for Kano residents to adhere strictly to the health protocols, to prevent the spread of the disease.
According to the communique ‘’Diseases do not know borders, it is thus very important for the state government and REMSAB to look into the situation of sanitation in the state especially now that it’s raining season,’’ he said.
‘’Government should help in encouraging communities to clear their drainages and when they do, REMASAB should be available to clear the waste they take out. This will help to reduce the spread of malaria, cholera, and flood as well as maintain the roads built by the government.’’
