A giant kite accidentally caught a 3 year old child and flung her high into the sky
In the video people were scared and screamed as the baby was flung high into the air, being wildly swung by the wind. She was in the air for about 30 seconds before the kite was lowered to a level that audience members were to hold and release her.
A 3 year old was caught by a giant kite and dangerously sent flying into the sky during a kite flying festival in Taiwan.
The kite festival was being held in the city of Hsinchu, south of Taipei. Video of the accident surfaced on social media, which shows several people getting ready for a large long tailed pale orange kite for a flight next to a crowd of viewers. The kite was seen already billowing from the strong wind.
Unfortunately, the organisers let the kite go and when the kite flies up, it had caught a 3 year old baby, dangling from its tail.
However it is not how she got close to the kite or how she was caught by it.
In the video people were scared and screamed as the baby was flung high into the air, being wildly swung by the wind. She was in the air for about 30 seconds before the kite was lowered to a level that audience members were to hold and release her.
After she was released from the kite, the baby was immediately taken to the hospital together with her mother and festival staff, fortunately she sustained minor injuries with abrasions on her face and neck. According to Taiwanese government news agency.
Hsinchu Mayor, Lin Chih chien, apologized for the incident and said the festival has been suspended to ensure safety of attendees.
He said, “We will review the circumstances to prevent accidents like this from happening again, and hold people accountable.”
