Ondo INEC office on fire, over 5000 card readers destroyed

The office of the National Independent Electoral Commission, INEC in Ondo State is currently on fire.

The fire that started around 8:45 p.m. at the commission’s ICT unit has yet to be brought under control as at press time.

More than 5000 card readers were destroyed in the fire.

The cause of the fire being unknown, the firemen have not yet arrived on the scene.

Ondo State firefighters are less than 500 meters from the commission.

The commission is located in the Alagbaka district of Akure, the state capital.

The election of the state governor was scheduled for October 10, 2020.
