Liverpool 4-3 Leeds Utd
Leeds United made a dramatic return to the Premier League after a 16 year absence, as they produced a brilliant performance against Liverpool only to lose to the reigning Premier League champions at Anfield with a late penalty.
Liverpool on the other hand began their title defence after winning its first title in 30 years, they led three times but were pegged back each time by Marcelo Bielsa’s fearless team before Mohamed Salah completed his hatrick from the penalty spot.
Leeds seemed to be leaving Anfield with a fully deserved point, but Leeds forward Rodrigo in the 88th minute tripped Fabinho in the penalty box, which gave Salah the opportunity to score from the spot to secure Liverpool’s victory.

Salah scored his first hatrick of the season against Leeds
Salah troubled last season’s championship winners when he scored a penalty in the fourth minute after his shot was handled by German and Leeds defender Robin Koch.
Leeds provided the perfect reaction as Jack Harrison shoot passed Alisson with a low right foot, necessary only for a weak defense, to allow Virgil van Dijk to regain Liverpool’s lead as he headed in Andy Robertson’s corner.
Van Dijk made a big mistake when he gifted Patrick Bamford Leeds’ second goal before a ferocious shot from Salah completed scoring (3-2) in the first half in a frantic first half.
In a game that saw four goals disallowed, Leeds were not be put aside and equalised after 66 minutes when a perfect first hit by Mateusz Klich went passed Alisson.
However, the man of the match, Salah, had the last say of the game after a reckless challenge from Rodrigo.
Liverpool sits third on the league table as they look to see out a tough defence of their premier league title.
