Policemen in River State arrest notorious kidnapper, Bobosky

CP Joseph Mukan said Bobosky was responsible for many kidnapping incidents in Rivers State and he was said to have kidnapped Barrister Emelogu whom he killed after collecting a ransom from his family.

Rivers State Police Commanding a joint operation with one local vigilante group, have arrested a notorious kidnapper and leader of Greenlanders Cult Group, Honest Digbara popularly known as Bobosky
Bobosky, who is on the Rivers Police Command “most wanted criminal list” according to Police statement, have been terrorising many communities in Ogoni land.

As at August 2019, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike annouced a N30 million naira bounty for anybody with any relevant information as to Bobosky’s whereabouts.

But around 2:30am on Saturday 12 September, 2020, police with other local vigilante group caught Bobosky in Koro Community, Tai Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner of Police, River State Police Command, Joseph Mukan, said as soon the cultist saw the police approaching, they criminals opened fire on them and a firefight ensued between the armed gang and the police. He said an officer who was the driver was killed in the shootout but the police finally caught Bobosky alive.

CP Joseph Mukan said Bobosky was responsible for many kidnapping incidents in Rivers State and he was said to have kidnapped Barrister Emelogu whom he killed after collecting a ransom from his family.

He was also said to be responsible for the kidnap of the DCO of Adam, SP Moses Egbede after he had collected ransom.

Bobosky is also accused of kidnapping one Chief Mbu of Ogu whom he collected a ransom of N7 million and the killing of two police officers attached to the Federal Highway, of which he took their rifles after murdering them at Botem.

Another high profile incident involving Bobosky was the killing of one soldier and an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC at Gio pipeline, in Ogoni last year.

The people of Ogoniland and Rivers State were happy as they received the news of Bobosky’s and some of them expressed their delight on social media.
