Ahead of the October 10 gubernatorial elections in Ondo State, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, signaled the end of its campaign on Saturday.
As the party’s supporters and chiefs in Akure, the capital of Ondo state, pressed for this event, the party declared that its candidate Eyitayo Jegede would win convincingly in the vote.
The party’s national leader, Prince Uche Secondus, while admonishing the ruling All Progressive Congress, the CPA and Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who is seeking re-election against the manipulation, stressed that the party’s exit in Oyo state in 2019, where Governor Seyi Makinde defeated the ruling party, will be achieved again on October 10 in Ondo state.
According to Secondus, Jegede will free the people of Ondo State from hunger and added that the people of Ondo will expel those who have turned the government into family businesses.
He appealed to Buhari to ensure a free, fair and transparent election process.
The governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, who heads the Jegede Campaign Council, in turn said that “this election will be special because it is about choosing freedom over servitude.
“Your vote will not only count, but will also help to free the state of Ondo from the shackles of the current state government.
While the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, scolded the APC-led government for bringing hardship to the people with its anti-people policies, he called on the people of Ondo State to use their vote to send the APC out of Ondo State.
He said that with the victory of the PDP in the 2019 presidential and national elections in the state, Jegede would be victorious on October 10.
Tambuwal also asked the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to investigate the infernal INEC, where readers of letters destined for the gubernatorial election were burned, because he stressed that the PDP suspected that the APC had committed a foul in the election rigging.
Meanwhile, the party’s standard-bearer, Jegede, assured PDP believers that there would be a new government in Ondo State in February 2021.
“Today we notify the APC government. You should park and leave the government building.”
