This is 2020, and Racism in sports is still a major concern. Racism is prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
For some time, much energy has been channeled towards stopping racism in sports, there have even been social media campaigns but its still a work in progress as there as still incidents recorded daily.
Last Night, An incident in the Ligue 1 match between PSG and Marseille brought this topic up again.
The match featured 4 red cards and Lots of yellow cards but the incident that caught the eye was Neymar’s sending off. Neymar Punched Gonzalez at the back of the head and he was shown red after VAR caught the incident.
Neymar says he is a victim of racism after being sent off with 5 other players following a mass brawl at the end of Marseille’s 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Brazilian star appears to accuse Alvaro Gonzalez of calling him a “monkey”. Many have said Neymar shouldn’t have reacted no matter what happened that way while others justified his actions and slamming racial abuse.
