The Emir of Zazzau is dead

The Emir of Zazzau, HRH Alhaji Shehu Idris, has passed away this morning, Sunday, August 20, in Kaduna.

Earlier this year, the King celebrated his 45th year on the throne of Zazzau.

He was the 18th king of the Zazzau kingdom from the Fulani tribe, who died at the age of 84.

Sources from the kingdom said the deceased was rushed to hospital on Friday.

In 1975 the late Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Shehu Idris took over the reigns of the kingdom until today Sunday 20 August 2020, when God took his health.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai gave his condolences in a message he posted on his Twitter handle, he said, “VERY SAD: It is with great sadness that I confirm the passing of the father of our state, His Highness Emir of Zazzau, Alh (Dr.) Shehu Idris CFR. He died at the 44 Military Hospital Kaduna today after a brief illness. Janazah prayer in Zaria is scheduled for 5pm insha Allah.
