Zendaya surprisingly wins an Emmy for lead actress in drama series “Euphoria”

Zendaya won the Emmy award for her role as Rue Bennet in the HBO Euphoria and made history as the youngest person ever to win this award. Not only is she the youngest award winner, she is the second black woman to win the award after Viola Davis’ victory for “How to Escape Murder” in 2015. What a lovely late birthday present for the actress, who turned 24 on September 1st.

Obviously surprised, Zendaya accepted the award with her family and team and dressed in a completely different but equally splendid outfit than the one she wore at the ceremony, which was also designed by Giorgio Armani Privé. “I am very nervous”, said the actress before beginning her speech, in which she thanked the Television Academy and all the other actresses in her category. “This is crazy. I’m not really crying”, exclaimed the excited actress before thanking the cast and crew and Euphoria’s executive producer Sam Levinson for entrusting her with the role of Rue. Zendaya noted Euphoria’s darker theme and assured viewers that children are still the future. “I know our television programme is not always a good example, but there is hope in young people. And I want to say to all my colleagues who work in the street: I watch you, I admire you, I thank you, and yes, I thank you very much.”
