Bayern Munich were forced into extra time by a tireless and strong willed Sevilla who initially went in front 13 minutes into the game.
Bayern got an equaliser before the break, through Leon Goretzka, who scored from Robert Lewandowski’s flick pass.
Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane and Lewandowski’s goals were both ruled out for offsides. Meanwhile, the biggest chance of the second half came when Youssef En-Nesyri missed an opportunity to win the game for Sevilla in the closing stages.
Bayern who has not lost a game since December 2019, won the game with substitute Javi Martinez scoring the winning goal in the 104th minute of extra time.
