NSCDC arrest and detains officer for killing DSS operative in Osun

A Civil Defence officer of the Osun State Command who goes by the name Sunday Dada, was arrested and detained for shooting a Department of the State Service agent, Seyi Adebowale, while the two were on official duty.

The incident reportedly occurred in Kuta town on September 15 during a visit by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukla Buratai to Osun State.

It was clear that Buratai had returned to Olowu Kuta’s palace in the middle of the night after finishing his duties accompanying him to places he had visited during his journey in the state.

Adebowale, who was said to have injured his lower abdomen, later died on Monday, September 28, at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo after undergoing two surgeries.

Tropics Nigeria later learnt, the deceased was buried on Friday in Ogun State.

When contacted, Daniel Adigun, the spokesman for the NSCDC in Osogbo, said the incident was due to an operational error.
