The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC) to investigate the Sum of N2.67 billion which was released to 104 Unity colleges during the COVID-19 lockdown for meal subsidies.
The funds was said to have been allegedly misappropriated as local farmers, food vendors and market women are being owed and were having a hard time getting paid as they are not registered with Tax Identification Number (TIN) or PENCOM.
However, the principals of the Unity Schools explained that the money the food vendors and farmers were clamouring for was the money owed to them even before the COVID19 pandemic, as the debt piled because of irregular and inadequate budgetary allocations.
