Thousands of people from different parts of Nigeria have gathered in Hadejia, Jigawa State to inaugurate the first Islamic University in the town, named Assalam International University.
The university was founded by the Jama’atul Izalatul Bida’a Waikamatul Sunnah (JIBWIS) better known as the Izala Association of Nigeria.

Tropics Nigeria learnt that, governors, members of parliament and other participants had contributed more than one billion naira to the construction of the university.
The governors of Jigawa, Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi and Katsina states donated N250 million, while another who asked not to be mentioned donated N500 million.
Some lawmakers donated N150 million, while APC leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu donated N10 million.
In his remarks, the chairman of the Izala Association, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, said the university would help young people acquire western education, skills and Islamic knowledge that would benefit them in the future.
