Tropics Nigeria reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected the decision to deploy army personnel to put down EndSARS protesters, stating that such decision could be counter productive.
The president said that ordering armed soldiers to open fire on protesters should be a means of last resort that is if it will ever be considered. He mentioned that such move could also trigger a larger protest which may end badly.
Our sources stated that Mr. Buratai and some of his generals were very angry that the #EndSARS protesters have refused to call off their protest.
It was said that Mr. Buratai requested the president’s permission to deploy troops in order to disperse protesters and take control over demonstration grounds in Abuja and Lagos.
However, Chief of staff Ibrahim Gambari was one if those who advised the president against the deployment of troops.
The National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno wasn’t part of the meeting but a source said he would be briefed on the recent development.
